Movie news for Newton South stars
Newton-bred horror filmmaker Eli Roth has distribution for his film “The Green Inferno,” which is about students who travel to the Amazon and are taken hostage by cannibals. (Uplifting, yes?) Open Road Films will release the movie on Sept. 5, 2014, according to TheWrap.com. Roth went to Newton South. . . . Another Newton South talent, B.J. Novak (who starred with Roth in “Inglourious Basterds”), has been out promoting his new film, “Saving Mr. Banks,” which stars Tom Hanks as Walt Disney and Emma Thompson as “Mary Poppins” author P.L. Travers. Novak plays Disney music writer Robert Sherman in the drama, which is about the making of “Mary Poppins,” the film. Novak joined his costar, Melanie Paxson, who plays Walt Disney’s secretary, for a special screening at Pacific Theatre at The Grove in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
