Former Sox outfielder Carl Crawford engaged to former Mrs. Ochocinco
In case you missed it, former Red Sox outfielder Carl Crawford got engaged on Christmas Day, and his betrothed has ties to the Boston sports scene. The overpaid baseball player is marrying “Basketball Wives” star Evelyn Lozada, who was previously married, however briefly, to onetime Patriots receiver Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, and before that engaged to former Celtics forward Antoine Walker. (She and Johnson divorced after he headbutted her during an argument.) Lozada and Crawford announced their engagement the old-fashioned way: on Instagram. The bride-to-be, who’s seven months pregnant with Crawford’s baby, posted a picture of her enormous diamond engagement ring on the social network site along with one word: “YES!” Crawford, who managed to collect $20 million from the Los Angeles Dodgers last season despite hitting just .283 with six home runs, got down on one knee to propose. Lozada “wasn’t expecting a proposal at all,” her rep told People.com. “It took Evelyn by surprise.” Wondering about the ring? The 14.5-carat diamond band was made specially for her by Jason Arasheben, CEO of Jason of Beverly Hills.
