Cirque du Soleil is headed back to Boston, this time with a spectacle directed by Diane Paulus
. The artistic director of the Cambridge-based American Repertory Theater will be at the controls of “Amaluna” when Cirque’s latest production opens May 29 at Boston’s Industrial Marine Park. The show, which premiered in Montreal in 2012, is set on a mysterious island governed by goddesses and guided by the cycles of the moon. Paulus, a celebrated stage director, won the Tony last year for directing “Pippin” and was previously nominated for her revivals of “Hair” and “The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess.” Tickets for “Amaluna” will be available Feb. 28.
