Newton-bred actor/producer/writer B.J. Novak was in Cambridge Monday to sign copies of his new book, “One More Thing: Stories and Other Stories,” at Harvard Book Store. (In the evening, the store also hosted a sold-out event at the Brattle Theatre.) At one point before the signing, a hungry Novak was handed a menu from Mr. Bartley’s Gourmet Burgers, and asked which meat patty he might want to order for lunch. He spied a burger named for his former “Office” costar Mindy Kaling — it has provolone cheese, grilled peppers, and sweet potato fries — but no B.J. Novak burger. So, of course, Novak called Bartley’s and asked for the B.J. Novak burger. He was promptly put on hold and then told there isn’t a B.J. Novak burger. “I know,” he replied. “I’m B.J. Novak.” As you can imagine, it only took Bartley’s a matter of minutes to make a B.J. Novak burger, designed by B.J. Novak. The burger, with cheddar cheese, grilled onions and peppers, and dijon mustard, is now on the menu. . . . CNN’s Anderson Cooper slipped into town over the weekend, dining at Davio’s steak, penne pasta, twice baked potato and a glass of pinot noir.
