RI college gathering relief items for storm-hit NJ

NEWPORT, R.I. (AP) — Salve Regina University is collecting relief items for residents of New Jersey struggling to recover from Superstorm Sandy.

The Newport university has set up a donation station on campus on Leroy Avenue outside Our Lady of Mercy Chapel. Donations may be dropped off between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays through Friday.

The items will then go to the College of New Jersey, which will give them to individuals and families in need.

Requested donation items include new or lightly used warm clothing, especially for children, and blankets; batteries; paper plates and cups; bleach; diapers; cleaning supplies and toiletries.end of story marker
