PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — A Portland man has been charged with threatening children at a school playground in the Maine city.

Thirty-two-year-old Derek Weeks was at the Reiche School playground with his child on Wednesday afternoon when police say he made harassing and derogatory statements to seven third- to fifth-graders about their race and threatened to shoot them.

No weapon was displayed or found.

Weeks has been charged with seven counts of criminal threatening and interference with constitutional and civil rights.
