Housing market shows life
Condominium sales in Somerville were up in January from the same period last year, while sales of single-family homes remained low, according to recent figures released by the Warren Group, which tracks housing data statewide. The median price for condominiums also spiked for the month. In January, 17 condo units were sold, up from 12 in January 2011. The median price also rose, from $305,000 last year to $365,000 in 2012. Single-family home sales were few, with a rise from two units sold last January to five this year, with the median price $350,000. Statewide, January home sales increased to the highest level since 2007, edging up by 3 percent. Condominium sales in the Commonwealth increased 1 percent, the Warren Group said.
