PEABODY, Mass. (AP) — A veteran Peabody police officer has pleaded not guilty to charges that he ‘‘inappropriately’’ touched his teenage stepdaughter.
Officer Frederick Wojick was released on personal recognizance following his arraignment Friday on six counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 and one count of dissemination of obscene matter to a minor.
Prosecutors allege the 48-year-old Wojick not only touched the girl over a period of time, but also exposed her to pornography.
Wojick’s lawyer called the allegations ‘‘patently false,’’ and said the teen made the accusations after a dispute with Wojick over her boyfriend. The lawyer said Wojick asked the girl’s mother to stop her daughter from seeing the boyfriend.
The 48-year-old Wojick was arrested at 7 p.m. Thursday.
