There is more hockey in James Gordon’s future. Plenty more. The 18-year-old Globe All-Scholastic star, who led the Hingham Harbormen in scoring last season before being diagnosed with testicular cancer, is back on his feet and back on the ice. After graduating with his class in June, Gordon (inset) completed his final round of chemotherapy in July and had a large growth removed from his abdomen in August. “He still has a bunch of stuff going on in his lungs, but the doctors are assuming that’s dead tissue as well, and his body will get rid of it on its own,” said his mother, Terri Gordon. Though the cancer forced Gordon to delay his studies, he is busy reapplying to a number of schools and said he hopes to play Division 3 hockey. “Everything’s going great,” he said. “I’m playing hockey again, which is awesome.” Gordon is playing for the Boston Advantage, and works at the Pilgrim Arena. But it’s at home, said his mother, where the full measure of his devastating diagnosis and subsequent recovery is truly felt. “We’re toning it down for the holidays, just being together,” she said. “Not a lot of hoopla. Just us, and being thankful for what we have.”
