Details on Frederick Law Olmsted’s designs for the Boston park system will be featured in a 7 p.m. lecture Thursday presented by the Friends of Fairsted. Ethan Carr, a landscape historian, will draw on his work editing the eighth volume of Olmsted’s papers for Johns Hopkins University Press. The years covered in the talk and the papers were when Olmsted formed the first modern landscape architecture office at Fairsted in Brookline, and collaborated on projects with architect H.H. Richardson. The talk will follow a 6 p.m. reception at Wheelock College, 43 Hawes St. The program is free, but seating is limited. For reservations, call 617-566-1689, ext. 265, or e-mail friendsoffairsted@gmail.com. - Andreae Downs
