Dorchester boy, 5, hit by vehicle has perished

A 5-year-old boy struck by a vehicle in Dorchester a week ago has died, police said. The boy was hit on Whitten Street at about 11:45 a.m. on May 20. He was taken with life-threatening injuries to Boston Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on May 21, according to Boston police spokeswoman Officer Nicole Grant.
