The Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest has named Jonathan Carrasquillo-Pena, 18, as its “Youth of the Year.” The Framingham teen was lauded as “a true example of an extraordinary young man” by the club, which cited his growth from a shy individual into a teen leader and mentor to younger members. Carrasquillo-Pena joined the organization’s teen leadership program, the Keystone Club, and last year helped launch the Keystone Kafe, an after-school snack bar. He will attend Wentworth Institute of Technology to study civil engineering in the fall. The Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest serves 3,500 children of all ages at four area sites. Its Youth of the Year program was founded 60 years ago.
