PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Providence is playing host to the American Hockey League’s top talent with the AHL’s All-Star Classic and its Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

The event is scheduled to be televised nationally in the United States and Canada.

The 2013 AHL All-Star Game starts at 7 p.m. on Monday.

Nearly every player who has participated in the All-Star Classic has gone on to play in the National Hockey League.

Earlier Monday, the AHL will hold its Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Ceremony. Among the four players being inducted is Harvey Bennett, who played 13 seasons in the AHL and played for the Boston Bruins. He later opened a hockey pro shop in Cranston.end of story marker
