Democracy demands participation. I am a liberal Republican running for state representative to provide a choice for balance in the 34th Middlesex.
The district is currently represented by an incumbent Democrat who is very progressive, but progressive well out of proportion to the only somewhat progressive electorate.
Our region's long history of uncontested races makes for unbalanced, backward democracy. It fully disenfranchises voters with the guts to register in other parties, and it disheartens most voters regardless of party. The result is policy less representative of our whole electorate, and incumbents who can disregard those registered in other parties.
We Republicans want to serve first by providing a ballot choice and a moderating influence, and by "being there" as viable go-to opposition. And when elected, by vigorously serving ALL of our district.
Vote Republican and send a message for moderation.
