    I served two terms as mayor of the city of Lowell, and was only the second woman to serve as mayor in the city's history.
    I also served as chairwoman of former governor Paul Cellucci's transition team.
    Since my election to the state Senate in 2010, I have served as chairwoman of the Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts, and Cultural Development; vice chairwoman of the Joint Committee on Higher Education, and on the Joint Committees on Community Development and Small Business, Economic Development and Emerging Technologies, and Telecommunications, Utilities and Energy.
