BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (AP) — Freezing rain and high winds have contributed to a number of road accidents in Vermont.

A drop in temperatures overnight Wednesday turned wet road surfaces into black ice.

Vermont State police responded to a number of motor vehicle crashes and vehicles off the road. Route 9 between Brattleboro and Wilmington was closed for a short time due to the road conditions and traffic crashes.

Meanwhile, temperatures were warming up, expected to reach the 40s and possibly 50. Records could be set for the day.end of story marker
