HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut electric utilities are reporting more than 23,000 customers without power as the snowstorm winds up.

At 9 p.m. Friday, Connecticut Light & Power reported about 22,000 customers out, mostly in southeastern Connecticut. United Illuminating reported about 1,400 in its service area.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy said earlier Friday the two companies, the state’s largest electricity suppliers, were planning for up to 30 percent of customers to lose power. That would be more than 400,000 homes and businesses.

Malloy said the companies were calling in line crews from out of state to respond to the storm.end of story marker
