It takes top crews in the Head of the Charles Regatta anywhere from 14 to 20 minutes to row the full three-mile course.
The Simmons College women’s crew can do it in 60 seconds. Well, that is if we throw in a GoPro camera and some Final Cut magic. The Simmons crew let Boston.com position a GoPro on their bow during a training run in September to get the footage, and we’ve sped it up to let you see exactly what it’s like to cruise the entire course in one minute.
It begins near the Boston University Boathouse and ends near Artesani Park, passing under seven bridges on the way. The video was produced by Darren Durlach and coordinated by Gary Dzen.
The regatta will be held on Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with about 9,000 competitors expected.
