What the Red Sox lineup could look like in 2013 based on the early assembly of the roster:

CF Jacoby Ellsbury He will be a free agent after the season, which should provide plenty of motivation
RF Shane Victorino Switch hitter with speed, fits in well hitting second in this lineup
2B Dustin Pedroia If healthy, he could chase another MVP; he is tired of losing
DH David Ortiz He has the two-year contract he wanted, now he has to keep producing
1B Mike Napoli He has a swing made for Fenway Park, but first base could be a challenge defensively
3B Will Middlebrooks He created plenty of optimism as a rookie last season
LF Jonny Gomes Red Sox are hoping this platoon player can play every day
C Jarrod Saltalamacchia Or maybe it’s Ryan Lavarnway, with a lot of David Ross (stay tuned)
SS Jose Iglesias The defensive whiz has to prove he can hit in the majors, at least a little
