Baseball players of the week

Brandon Bingle, St. John’s Prep — Bingle bounced back from a tough outing against BC High the previous week and pitched 5 strong innings against Xaverian on Wednesday. The senior struck out seven and sat the Hawks down in order three times. Bingel earned the W in a 7-3 victory.

Mike DeDonato, Chelmsford — The Lions handed Billerica its first loss in a dominant 14-6 victory. The offensive surge from Chelmsford came in the top of the third when DeDonato tallied three RBIs on a double and a triple on two trips to the plate.

Eric Eknaian, Billerica — The third baseman came up big for the Indians against Malden Catholic Saturday, recording a two-run single in a six-run fifth inning. The Indians went on to crush the Lancers, 14-5.

Luis Atles, Charlestown — The sophomore went 4 for 4 with four RBIs in the Townies’ 13-3 thumping of Madison Park.

Evan Nahabedian, Newton South — Nahabedian powered the Lions to a 6-2 victory over Bedford this past Friday due to stellar pitching. The sophomore earned his first ever varsity win in fashion by striking out 11 Bedford batters before exiting the game.

Liam Collins, Milton — Usually, a routine RBI single won’t get you on the players of the week list, but there are exceptions. Collins drove in teammate Colin McCabe to tally the winning run against Needham for a 7-6 victory. The game went 13 innings.

Mike Lundin, Silver Lake — The pitcher came in relief last Wednesday against North Quincy where he shut the door on a rally by the Red Raiders in the sixth inning. On Friday in a Patriot League battle for first against Hingham, he started and struck out nine Harbormen. Over the week, he pitched nine shutout innings, allowing just three hits and striking out 13.
