In a battle between perennial girl’s lacrosse powerhouses, Westwood and Needham left everything on the field Monday night. The two teams fought to the bitter end at Westwood High, with the No. 1 Wolverines edging the No. 4 Rockets, 10-9, with on Kim Egizi’s goal with just 1:16 left.
“Both teams are high-caliber teams and both come to play,” said Needham coach Beth O’Brien after letting her team know that she was proud of them because they never stopped fighting.
Westwood (13-0) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first three minutes with goals from Colleen Burke and Brooke Troy. Needham (11-2) retaliated with goals from Catherine Conley and Kailey Conry to tie less than seven minutes into the game.
