WEYMOUTH — Weymouth was nine yards away from tying the score on the first drive of the third quarter as sophomore quarterback Matt Long darted toward the goal line. But at the 1-yard line, No. 4 Natick jarred the ball from Long’s grasp as a massive pileup ensued with both teams fighting for the ball. The Redhawks came up with it. And they didn’t look back from there.
Senior quarterback Troy Flutie led Natick on a 14-play, 97-yard drive that he capped off with a 1-yard rushing touchdown to take a two-touchdown lead with 2:39 to play in the third, as the Redhawks marched past No. 17 Weymouth, 35-14, Thursday.
The drive included a pair of third-down conversions and a fourth down conversion as Natick (1-0) completed the 14-point swing. Full story for BostonGlobe.com subscribers.
