On several winter weekends guests and the public can learn how to prepare a meal in the 18th-century manner, over an open hearth. Participants will learn how to use a reflector oven, spider, hanging griddle, gypsy kettle, and beehive oven as they prepare dishes such as pear chutney, bread pudding, biscuits, roast pork, and turkey. They’ll learn to judge the heat by holding their palms over the coals.
