The Melrose Board of Aldermen will hold a special meeting Thursday to consider spending $51,500 to pay for a study to determine if a synthetic turf field can be put down at the high school/middle school on the Lynn Fells Parkway.

The money would be transferred from the stabilization fund to the Public Works account.

The High School Field Advisory Committee recently selected Gale Associates, a national engineering firm with a local office in Weymouth, to evaluate renovation options at the field.

The aldermen will meet at 7:45 p.m. in the aldermen’s chamber at City Hall.
