The Sharon Bands

Sharon Concert Band

Founded in 1988, the concert band is a wind ensemble playing a variety of music from the symphonic repertoire. Once a community band, it now attracts about 60 members from Rhode Island to Boston. The band gives themed concerts, often with guest vocalists or dancers. Summer shows include familiar songs, marches, patriotic music, and show tunes.

Roy Scott Big Band

Named for the bands’ founder, this is a smaller ensemble of about 19 musicians on brass, saxophone, drums, guitar, and more. It plays 1930s and ‘40s swing classics and hits of the recent swing revival. Summer concerts include not just swing, but also bebop, blues, cool jazz, funk, jazz, Latin, pop, and rock. Most members also play in the concert band.
